Second best in Europe: University of Copenhagen

The 2016 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), places the University of Copenhagen as second best university in Contintental Europe and as the 30th best in the world. This is the second time in 2016 that a Danish university makes the top two.

The 2016 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) places the American Universites Harvard, Stanford and Berkeley in the top three worldwide, but the Danish universities are putting up a good fight.

The University of Copenhagen comes in second within Continental Europe only out-ranked by Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich in 1st place.

It is the first time since the ARWU rankings began in 2003, that a Danish institution has made the 30th place and the University of Copenhagen is not the only Danish University listed in the ranking.

Aarhus University jumps eight spots from 73 in 2015 to number 65 this year.

The Technical University of Denmark makes the 100-150 range, in which schools were not assigned a specific ranking. Aalborg University makes the 201-300 range, and the University of Southern Denmark is placed in the 301-400 range.
