Description
Focusing on fundamental physics of light and optical components as well as a wide range of applications which are essential to our high-tech society, this programme includes courses in basic physics, optical materials and structures. The programme places great emphasis on innovation and future applications of optics and photonics to develop technological solutions to societal challenges including quantifying carbon dioxide consumption, improving combustion processes, securing communication against acts of terrorism, measuring food quality, performing better medical procedures, and understanding and controlling diseases.
Career Opportunities
The career opportunities as a Master of Science in Engineering within photonics are manifold due to the many different applications of photonics. Examples of career paths include research and development within the private industrial sector as well as within the public domain. However, career options related to other occupational tasks—as for example process control and management or optimization or processing of advanced technology where photonics is either an end product or used as a tool to process other end products—are also possible.Admission
