Description
As a student of the study programme in Power Electronics and Drives (Energy Engineering), you will study efficient and intelligent energy conversion employing power electronic technology and electrical machines. The objectives of the syllabus are to provide you with:- Detailed understanding of the operation, function and interaction between various components and sub-systems used in power electronic converters, electric machines and adjustable-speed drives
- Knowledge enabling design, modelling, simulation and synthesis of power converter-based systems used for conversion of electric energy
- Experience in design of controllers for PED systems using classical and modern control theory
- Experience in the practical implementation of controllers using for example digital signal processors
- To enable you to develop, construct, operate and test power electronic converters and drives in the laboratory
Experimental work plays a key role in the programme. A large, well-equipped laboratory is available, offering you excellent opportunities for constructing and testing prototypes of electronic systems and electric machines. Facilities for testing power electronic components, converters and high power systems are also at your disposal.
Career Opportunities
The gained knowledge enables the MSc graduates to work in project engineering, research, development and management in Danish and international industries or public institutions. You can work with e.g.:
- Wind energy for converter and generator design at e.g. Vestas
- Electrical drives at e.g. Danfoss and Grundfos
- High power converters for compensation or active filters or for machine design at e.g. ABB and Siemens
- Control of converters at e.g. KK Wind Solutions
- PV-systems at e.g. Danfoss Solar Inverters
- Particle accelerators at e.g. Danfysik
- Switch mode converters at e.g. Bang & Olufsen
- Novel lighting at e.g. Martin Professional
