The Mathematics programme develops your knowledge of scientific theories and methods, your experience in working independently with scientific questions and your ability to express yourself clearly on academic issues.Career Opportunities
For mathematicians, unemployment is virtually unknown. You have many career opportunities in Denmark as well as abroad. Because of the analytical qualifications which are acquired through the programme. Mathematicians are often preferred for analyst positions. In economy, the health sector, construction etc. there are often enormous amounts of data which need to be structured and analysed.Some mathematicians focus on statistics and they have great career opportunities in analysis institutes, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies etc. There are many political and health-related decisions which are made on the basis of statistical analyses.
If you want to work in research, it usually necessitates completing a PhD. A PhD student is usually paid through a scholarship from a university, a foundation or through a collaboration with a company.
About the Degree
In this master programme, you get the opportunity to immerse yourself in current issues and complete your own research projects. The programme will provide you with a good basis for handling complex problems which are relevant in many different careers.You can choose subjects from your own areas of interest. Research areas within our department include: Operator Algebras, Combinatorics and Topological Methods, Discrete Mathematics and Graph Theory, Banach Spaces, and Geometry.
Admission
Entry requirements for the Master's programme in Mathematics: •Bachelor's degree or other degree based on at least three years of higher education after the high school level. •Qualifications in mathematics corresponding to at least 75 ECTS, including the following subjects areas: -Geometry and topology -Algebra -Real and complex analysis -Statistics and probability.Students will be qualified for admission after an individual assessment by the Study Board.

Tuition Fees and Scholarships
No tuition fees for EU/EEA/Swiss students.There is a tuition fee for all full-time degree students who hold a citizenship from outside of EU/EAA/Switzerland.
SDU offers 75 scholarships yearly. The scholarship consists of two parts: full tuition fee waiver and a grant, to help cover living costs amounting to $ 950 per month before taxes. Candidates must come from a non-EU/EEA country and be eligible to pay tuition fees. The scholarship will be awarded to the best qualified of the eligible applicants. All eligible applicants who are offered a study place, will automatically be considered for the scholarship. No separate application is needed. The best-qualified candidates based on points will be awarded the scholarship.
