Description
Health, illness, and treatment are conditions that touch all human beings; therefore, all societies must address them by developing medical knowledge, training practitioners, preventing illness, and caring for those who nevertheless become ill. When human beings become ill, many challenges often lie before them. Doctors and other health specialists are sought out, therapeutic options are negotiated and agreed upon, family life is coordinated, etc.In particular, the Anthropology of Health looks at how human beings’ efforts to secure health and treat illness are shaped by and contingent on local, national, and international institutions and political processes, and how inequalities in health are thereby created, maintained, or challenged. Another important focus is the use of new biomedical technologies that often raise difficult medical, moral and socioeconomic questions. In this way, during the last decades, the Anthropology of Health has become a well-established and internationally recognized subdiscipline within anthropology, while it has remained a central point of departure for research of societies and cultures in general.
Courses that may be offered in the specialisation track in Anthropology of Health include:
- Medical Anthropology, Introductory Course
- Medical Anthropology, Advanced Course: Violence and Global Health: Anthropological Perspectives

Description
As a student of Bioinformatics you will learn to solve biological problems by means of mathematical and statistical calculation methods by use of a computer.Bioinformatics is an extremely active, interdisciplinary field of research. Over the past five decades, biological research has revolutionised our understanding of life's molecular basis. Research has evolved from the 1940's discovery that genetic information is coded within DNA, until today, when the completed DNA sequences for a number of species – including humans – are known.
These, as well as other important discoveries, have permanently changed the biological sciences. Not too long ago, genes were studied one at a time. Now, experimental technologies allow us the chance to investigate all of an organism's genes, as well as their levels of activity and complex interactions.
Bioinformatics is indispensable in the management and analysis of increasingly vast quantities of data generated by these experiments. The field aims to tackle biological hurdles using mathematical and statistical computational methods. Modern biological and medical research are virtually impossible without bioinformatics.
During the course of the programme you will learn to:
- control situations at work and in developments that are complex, unpredictable and require new solutions
- individually initiate and complete collaborations and take professional responsibility
- find, extract, interpret and evaluate large dataset in complex biological processes
- individually take responsibility for your own scientific evolution and specialization
Career Opportunities
Many MSc graduates in bioinformatics find employment in biotech companies. A large proportion of the graduates continue on to a PhD programme.Admission

Description
Business- and Organisational Anthropology (BOA) studies business activities and life in organisations by anthropological methods and theory.Business strategy, management theory, design methodology, HR workrelations and organisational practice have for several decennia drawn on ethnographic methodology to produce and analyse data on the needs and concerns of stakeholders such as clients, employees and end-users.
BOA builds on this research as well as on classic ethnographic methodology and anthropological theory to equip students to pursue their own well-informed ethnographic research in Denmark or elsewhere in the world.
Often working in collaboration with organisations in public enterprise, design companies, engineering and other business sectors, students build and analyse their own ethnographic data, thus contributing to a better understanding of the lives, perceptions and needs of clients, end-users and other stakeholders.
By deepening understandings of what has often been called "the human factor" in business, students not only contribute to concrete innovation processes and product development in enterprises and organisations, but also add their findings to the growing field of BOA scientific research.

Description
Do you wish to excel in developing advanced cognitive technologies? And use knowledge of language and human cognition, and identify new interesting applications of cognitive models? At this exclusive and interdisciplinary MSc programme you will learn to deal with the complexity of human language, vision and cognition and design innovative and intelligent information and communication technology (ICT).IT and Cognition is an interdisciplinary Master's programme where students work with technologies that shape the future. Cutting-edge information and communication technologies not only require technical innovation, but also deep knowledge of language, vision and other aspects of human cognition. For a computer to play Jeopardy, drive a car, or summarize a newspaper article it must mimic human cognitive processes to some extent.
If you are interested in cognitive phenomena such as memory, attention, visual recognition or language, are keen on interdisciplinary study and want to improve your IT skills, this is the programme for you.
Career Opportunities
Candidates will be interesting to industry as well as research, and are popular in both places. They typically work with cognitive technologies in the the industry or do frontier research in image and language processing or related areas. The reason is, of course, that computational modeling becomes more and more important in research, and that in order to create good IT products it is important to know what, cognitively speaking, is easy and difficult for people to understand. This knowledge can help create information and communication technology that can make users' daily lives and workflows easier and facilitate the implementation of new products to achieve greater efficiency and user satisfaction.
Our past students have jobs at places like SAS Institute, Gallup, Textkernel, or continue their studies in PhD programs at universities in Denmark or elsewhere.

Description
Mathematics is the science of structures in a broad sense. They may be numerical structures, spatial structures, colour structures, musical structures, logical structures or a thousand other things. Mathematicians study these structures: they form them, stretch them, bend them, play with them and form connections between them. When you start looking, you find structures everywhere. And mathematics is the language that we use to express many of our deepest thoughts about the world. Mathematical applications can be used as a way to get inside the structures. Or you can become engrossed in the abstract game. You're allowed - in fact, you're encouraged! - to use both approaches as a graduate student in mathematics.
A graduate in mathematics will be able to:
- Conduct independent, stringent argumentation
- Structure a study of open mathematical issues
- Define mathematical disciplines in relation to each other, but also to take advantage of interdisciplinary skills.
- Independently take responsibility for his or her own professional development and specialisation.
- Read and understand original mathematical literature
- Convey and communicate mathematical issues and problems on a scientific basis
- Explain, orally and in writing, mathematical studies of open issues.
Career Opportunities
MSc graduates in Mathematics have many different job opportunities, and there is basically no unemployment. Many graduates find employment in the private sector, where they either work specifically with applying mathematics to specialised problems, for instance within economics or telecommunications, or act as "trouble shooters" in a broader sense. When employers are asked why they hire Mathematics graduates, they often emphasise the mathematician's abilities to see patterns in problems that often arise and to solve them once and for all.
There is also a high demand for mathematics teachers in upper secondary education and other post compulsory education programmes. Moreover, there is the opportunity to continue conducting research in mathematics after earning a PhD.
