Danish kids to learn English earlier
Danish children should begin learning foreign languages earlier than is currently the case, according to recommendations from a working group set up by the Education and Science ministries.
“Our English is not good enough. All Danes can speak some English, but we need more of us to be competent at a higher and more advanced level,” Working Group Chairwoman Bodil Due tells Berlingske.
Some of the ideas to be put forward by the group include changing the status of English from a foreign language to a second language. At the same time children should not have to wait to learn languages such as German and French until the 7th form.
