Denmark, No. 4 in Environmental Performance Index 2016

Due to our strong commitments to reduce emissions through increasing efficiency and renewable energy production, Denmark moves up to number four in the world in the Environmental Performance Index 2016 by Yale University.

The Environmental Performance Index (EPI) ranks countries’ performance on high-priority environmental issues in two areas: protection of human health and protection of ecosystems. Within these two policy objectives, the EPI scores national performance in nine issue areas comprised of more than 20 indicators, drawing out trends and highlighting data gaps in priority areas including air quality, water management, and climate change.

The 2016 EPI’s innovations have shaken up the rankings since the Index’s previous iteration. Finland has taken the top spot, followed by Iceland, Sweden, Denmark, and Slovenia. None of these countries were in the top five in the 2014 EPI.
