Description

As a Sustainable Energy Planning and Management student, you learn to understand the issues of the growing global demand for sustainable energy and energy efficiency. The programme addresses the challenges utilities, local communities, and governmental authorities face in the planning and implementing of sustainable energy technologies on local, national and international scales.

This interdisciplinary programme enables you to combine and build upon engineering, economic, and management disciplines, preparing you for a leading role in the future energy market, and as an influencer of present and future policy-making.
The aim is to give you a comprehensive understanding of the technological, institutional, and economic issues and methods related to energy planning and sustainable development.

You acquire not only theoretical and methodological knowledge but also the practical ability to apply your knowledge to particular cases.

Sustainable Energy Planning and Management is an educational programme devised by a research unit called the Sustainable Energy Planning Group. The group resides at the Department of Planning at Aalborg University. The research groups has been involved in energy scenario design, energy systems analyses, energy policy-making and more since the 1970s.

About the Degree

The programme can be attended in three ways:
  • A one-semester guest study with focus on the corporate and/or the regional perspective
  • A two-semester guest study including national and global energy
  • The full two-year Master’s programme in Sustainable Energy Planning and Management

Admission  

To enrol in the programme you are required to have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geography or Natural Science with some component of energy. 

In addition, documentation may be required verifying that your proficiency in English is at an acceptable level.

Tuition

There is a tuition fee for all full-time degree students who hold a citizenship from outside EU/EAA/Switzerland.

Students within an exchange programme are not required to pay tuition.
