About the Degree

The Graduate programme is compiled of equal parts linguistic/cultural subjects and sociological/economic subjects.The following areas are represented in the education: 

The Social Science part:
  • Leisure and tourism economy

The Humanities part:
  • Sustainable tourism development
  • Strategic communication
  • Experience Design
  • Current Issues in Leisure and Tourism Management
  • International Tourism Studies
The linguistic/cultural (humanistic) part and the sociological/economic part run parallel. There is an interaction between separate subjects and joint projects where the interplay between economy, language and culture renders a versatile overview of the topics. Below, you can learn about structure of the individual lectures.

The ninth semester may be spent abroad doing either an internship or taking courses at a university. The education is completed by signing a contract with a supervisor and writing a thesis of 60-100 pages. The thesis may be theoretical or written in collaboration with a business or company. You can find further information here and here.

Admission  

Bachelors of Art (BA) in Business, Language and Culture (International Tourism and Leisure Management) have the right to be admitted.
Students with other corresponding undergraduate programmes will be qualified for admission after an assessment from the Study Board.

Tuition Fees and Scholarships

No tuition fees for EU/EEA/Swiss students.
There is a tuition fee for all full-time degree students who hold a citizenship from outside of EU/EAA/Switzerland.

SDU offers 75 scholarships yearly. The scholarship consists of two parts: full tuition fee waiver and a grant, to help cover living costs amounting to $ 950 per month before taxes. Candidates must come from a non-EU/EEA country and be eligible to pay tuition fees. The scholarship will be awarded to the best qualified of the eligible applicants. All eligible applicants who are offered a study place, will automatically be considered for the scholarship. No separate application is needed. The best-qualified candidates based on points will be awarded the scholarship.
