Prerequisites: You must be a student in a health-related programme that is at bachelor’s level or above. The summer school is open to all students studying to become:
- Nurses
- Occupational therapists
- Physiotherapists
- Psychomotor therapists
- Medical Laboratory Technologists
- Radiographers
- Midwives
- Nutrition and health specialists
- Previously students from engineering and doctor programmes have also participated in the International Health Summer School. Contact us for more information.
Content
The theme of the international Health Summer School 2022 is how our health care technology system can assist the growing group of people suffering from dementia.
Throughout the course there is an inter-professional approach to the theme. You will deal with questions like:
- How to implement person-centered care in your professional work?
- What kind of psychosocial interventions is used in dementia care?
- How can health and welfare technology help people with dementia maintain autonomy in their lives?
- What are the benefits and disadvantages for the individual citizen?
- When is health technology ethically acceptable?
Teaching style
The programme includes both theoretical presentations on campus and visits to elder care centers and hospitals.
Your learning process will be supported by teambuilding, reflection groups, and presentations in workshops.
Participation will give you access to professional input, new networks and an appreciation of the varying perspectives that result from cultural differences.

Tuition waivers Students from VIA, VIA's partner institutions abroad and other Danish institutions are eligible for tuition fee waivers for this course, if they can provide documentation for approval of credit transfer.

Social programme including welcome and farewell events (we organise 2-3 events pr. week)

Accommodation, meals (food and drink), insurance, visa and travelling expenses to and from Denmark are not included in the fee.
